Summer Research Internship Program

The Summer Research Internship Program provides training for undergraduate, graduate and medical students in Health Sciences who wish to learn the rationale, design strategies, methods and other aspects of biomedical research as research assistants.

Participants engage in studies under the direct supervision of investigators who are members of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC's faculty and staff. In addition to the educational benefits, research assistants are also compensated.

The summer 2015 program will run from Monday, June 1, through Friday, July 24, 2015. Student researchers will have the opportunity to present the results of their research in the form of a mandatory poster presentation the last week of the program.

In order to apply for the 2015 Summer Research Internship Program, you will need to complete a two step application process. Only when both steps have been completed will your application and information be considered for the program. The details are as follows:

Step 1: Complete the Summer Internship Application 2015 (PDF) form in its entirety. Once completed, please return your application and related materials (resume, transcript) as instructed on the form. Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Please click on the "UPMC Job Listings" button below. You will be connected to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) job site. Follow the preceding bulleted instructions to view and apply to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Summer Student Research Program.

  • Click on the "UPMC Job Listing" button below or the following link
  • Click on the “advanced search” link under the keyword search box
  • In the “Job Opening ID” field type the following number 2067515 and click “search”
  • Proceed with the online application process. Be sure to answer all questions in detail


Applications for the 2015 program will only be accepted if both steps are completed by February 16, 2015. Selected candidates will be notified by April 1, 2015.
