Weight Management and Wellness Research Registry

Protocol Description

This project maintains a research registry of children treated at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC for obesity, polycystic ovary syndrome, pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and normal weight, otherwise healthy children. Information related to the medical conditions associated with childhood obesity will be stored in a database and used for: 1) conducting retrospective research studies about those childhood conditions; 2) identifying and contacting patients who may be eligible for future research studies; and 3) tracking the clinical courses and outcomes of patients. 

Eligibility Criteria

Patients of both genders under age 18 who are seen in the Endocrine Wellness clinic or who are already participating in other Institutional Review Board-approved research projects of the principal investigator are eligible.
Boys and Girls: Through age 17

Requirements

With consent, researchers will collect past, current and future medical record information related to participants’ medical conditions associated with childhood obesity for inclusion in the database.
Visits: None beyond normal clinical care
Duration: Ongoing
