Join Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Transplant Services and the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE)
as we celebrate the gift of life throughout April to spotlight organ donation and encourage others to register as organ
donors. A single organ, tissue, and eye donor has the potential to save eight lives and help more than 50 people. All events
are free and open to past and present transplant recipients, living-donors, their loved ones, and hospital staff.
Donate Life T-shirts will be on sale in Children’s Online Store
throughout March and April in recognition of Donate Life’s
Organ Donor Awareness Month. All proceeds benefit the
Patient and Family Assistance Fund through the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. Staff who purchase a
Children’s Hospital Donate Life t-shirt may wear it during work
hours every Friday in April. To make a purchase, visit
Join us as we kick off National Donate Life Month with the annual
flag raising ceremony and refreshments. Speakers include leaders
from Children’s Transplant Services, patients, and a donor family.
A donor registration table will be present for anyone interested in
registering to become an organ donor.
Following the Flag Raising Ceremony, our teens are invited to meet
other teens for fellowship, fun, and to discuss transplant-related
issues. ENCORE is a new initiative designed to bring teens together
for support and encouragement. Open to all ICARE and transplant
patients ages 12 and up.
Help us honor our talented and dedicated team of transplant nurses.
We commend them for a job well done. Post a message to Children’s Facebook page about your experience with a transplant nurse.
National Donate Life Blue and Green Day honors those touched by
organ, tissue, and eye donation. Employees are encouraged to wear
their green and blue colors in recognition of organ donation.
Donations are critical to maintain a good regional blood supply.
Join with Transplant Services and support the blood drive at

Celebrate the gift of life with Children’s Hospital. We encourage
our transplant recipients to return to the hospital on Friday,

importance of organ donation. Patients and families are asked to
RSVP to 412-692-7140.
Meet other transplant families at our ENCORE Caregiver Event!
Socialize, provide support, and offer advice. Open to all caregivers
of transplant patients.
