Brain Tumor Tissue Banking Study

Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium (CBTTC) Registry and Repository

Protocol Description

Though this multi-center program of the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium, researchers collect, store and study tissue, cerebral spinal fluid (CSF), saliva, blood, and other samples as well as information about participants’ medical conditions. Through registry studies like this one, researchers can better understand the molecular and genetic causes of abnormal cell growth and pursue new treatments.

Eligibility Criteria

With consent, this study enrolls male and female patients through age 21, who have abnormal cell growth, including tumors of the brain or the nervous system, and who are getting treatment at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
Males and Females: Through age 21

Requirements

No experimental treatments are required. The study only collects tissue and CSF collected during surgery and that is not needed for the child’s clinical care. The registry will also contain information about the medical care of participants, including medical history, and facts related to diagnosis and treatment of abnormal cell growth. Registry updates will be made at 3, 6 and 12 months following surgery, and then every 6 months thereafter.
Visits: None beyond normal clinical care
Duration: Not applicable

Status: Open to Enrollment
