The Center for Pediatric Research in Obesity and Metabolism (CPROM) is always looking for talented, motivated researchers to join our team.

Assistant/Associate Professor

CPROM is currently recruiting scientists in obesity and metabolism to fill an academic faculty position in the tenure stream at Assistant/Associate Professor rank, commensurate with the candidate’s knowledge, skills and experience. Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree.

Researchers will seek to answer essential questions underlying adipocyte biology and beta-cell function in obesity, the role of inflammation, and investigate mechanisms responsible for obesity-associated co-morbidities such as prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, sleep apnea, polycystic ovary syndrome, brain functional and structural alterations, neurocognitive function and gene-environment interaction among others.

PhD-scientists must have performed sufficient postdoctoral research and have demonstrated outstanding promise to build an independent research program. For patient-oriented research, focus in pediatrics is favored. Physician-scientists are preferred to be pediatric endocrinologists, but other subspecialties are welcomed. It is expected that the candidate at the Assistant Professor level have evidence of early career extramural funding (NIH K grant or equivalent), which will transplant to independent extramurally funded research program, a strong potential for academic productivity, research mentorship/teaching, and programmatic leadership as part of the mission of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
