Activities at Camp Chihopi

August 11-14, 2016

Camp Chihopi is surrounded by more than 200 acres of trees and mountains, and the camp has a private cove and beach on Cheat Lake. With these beautiful natural surroundings, campers have plenty of opportunities for fun outdoor activities, including boating and tubing, swimming, horseback riding, arts and crafts, land sports, music activities, cookouts, and the unforgettable “Rave,” which is a water trampoline with a slide.

There is a special all-camp activity on Saturday afternoon and the most popular event, the annual Camp Party is on Saturday night. The theme for the Chihopi 2016 party is “Chihopi Summer Olympics.”  Campers and staff are encouraged to attend this event on August 14 dressed for the Olympic theme. Opening and closing “Olympic” ceremonies will be held on Thursday and Sunday.

Camp Chihopi poolThe campers can’t wait to spend time each day at the Aquatics Center. This incredible water play area has a swimming pool with a shallow and deep end that has lap lanes, 2 water slides, and water volleyball nets – and a separate diving pool! There is also a shallow play pool with a waterfall activity for non-swimmers or anyone who just wants to splash!

From the water activities, the campers can easily walk to covered and open basketball courts, the Teen Center, shaded rest areas, archery, and the horse stable.

“Everyone’s favorite thing is going tubing on Cheat Lake, and going on the Rave. We have free swim every day, which is great, especially when it’s really hot.”
