Activities at Camp Chihopi

Camp Chihopi is surrounded by more than 200 acres of trees and mountains, and the camp has a private cove and beach on Cheat Lake. With these beautiful natural surroundings, campers have plenty of opportunities for fun outdoor activities, including:

  • Boating and tubing on Cheat Lake
  • Swimming
  • Horseback riding
  • Arts and crafts
  • Land sports
  • Music activities
  • Cookouts
  • The unforgettable "Rave" (a water trampoline with a slide!)
  • Special all-camp activity on Saturday afternoon

Campers enjoy having a theme for camp every year which is incorporated into the cabin names, activities, crafts, the Chihopi t-shirt, and our Chihopi party on Saturday night. The theme for Chihopi 2023 is “Chihopi Enchanted” celebrating the magic of camp and our time together. Think about wizards, unicorns, elves, fairies, and dragons being with us at camp this summer! We have planned several fantasy-themed events which will celebrate our Chihopi family and friends.

In the spirit of “Chihopi Enchanted,” cabins will be assigned a specific fantasy character and will be decorated to represent that character. Campers will be informed about their cabin theme prior to camp so they can be prepared to help decorate and to plan for what to wear for the Saturday night party. Costumes and props related to the theme are always fun – but optional!

Rafting at Camp ChihopiThe Aquatics Center is another favorite of the Chihopi campers! This exciting water play area has a swimming pool with a shallow end that has water volleyball nets and a deep end with lap lanes and two water slides. There is also a separate diving pool with two diving boards and steps leading into the water for spectators to relax while scoring dives, jumps and cannonballs! There is also a shallow play pool with a bucket waterfall for non-swimmers or anyone who just wants to splash and relax.

From the water activities, the campers can easily walk to covered and open basketball courts, the Teen Center, shaded rest areas, archery, and the horse stable.
