Camp Chihopi

COVID-19 Update

Virtual Camp Session August 10-15

After thoughtful discussion, we have made the decision to cancel Camp Chihopi 2020 due to COVID-19. Read our complete message (PDF).

We will have a virtual camp session August 10-15 and additional information will be available in early July.

What Is Camp Chihopi?

Camp Chihopi is a summer camping experience for children ages 7 to 15 who have received liver transplants and/or intestine transplants. Each year, campers enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the   Emma Kaufmann Camp, located 90 miles south of Pittsburgh near Morgantown, West Virginia.

During this summer camping event, campers are encouraged to make new friends, share their experiences, and participate in a variety of outdoor camp activities to the best of their abilities.

Camp Chihopi provides a non-medical environment where campers can increase self-esteem and interact with children who have similar medical backgrounds. The camp aims to help children continue to adapt to their chronic condition as a transplant recipient as they mature into young adults.
