After two summers of virtual Chihopi, we are pleased to announce that Camp Chihopi will be held as a live event from Thursday, August 11 to Sunday, August 14, 2022. Although we hope to enjoy camp in August, if COVID-19 cases increase over the summer and there is a concern for an increased risk of exposure to the virus, Chihopi may be cancelled. Please check this website regularly for updates.
All campers, staff, volunteers, and vendors who attend Camp Chihopi are required by the management of the Emma Kauffman Camp to be fully vaccinated with two vaccines plus at least one booster vaccine (three total vaccines). Vaccine cards will be scanned into the on-line registration forms through CampDocs.com and will be checked again during camper registration on August 11. There are no exceptions to this policy which is mandated by the Emma Kauffman Camp. Please review this link from the EKC website.
Camp Chihopi is a summer camping experience for children ages 7 to 15 who have received liver transplants and/or intestine transplants. Each year, campers enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the Emma Kaufmann Camp, located 90 miles south of Pittsburgh near Morgantown, West Virginia.
During this summer camping event, campers are encouraged to make new friends, share their experiences, and participate in a variety of outdoor camp activities to the best of their abilities.
Camp Chihopi provides a non-medical environment where campers can increase self-esteem and interact with children who have similar medical backgrounds. The camp aims to help children continue to adapt to their chronic condition as a transplant recipient as they mature into young adults.
