The ninth annual DVE Rocks for Children’s Radiothon raised over $605,000 for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, making it the third year in a row surpassing $600,000 in donations. The radiothon broadcasted live from the Eat’n Park Atrium at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Thursday, September 15 through Saturday, September 17.

With this year’s fundraising, the event has exceeded more than $4 million in total giving for Children’s Hospital over the past nine years.

102.5 WDVE Rocks’ on-air personalities Randy Baumann, Bill Crawford, Val Porter, Mike Prisuta, Michele Michaels and Sean McDowell broadcasted on-site to encourage listeners to donate to the radiothon and to tell stories of outstanding care and incredible courage from patients, families and staff from Children’s Hospital.

“We want to thank WDVE and its listeners for their tremendous support. This year, and for the past nine years, the DVE community has given generously to sick and injured kids so they can get back to what they do best – being a kid,” said Greg Barrett, president, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. “Radiothon showcases our community coming together supporting our kids, and highlights how Children's will always be supported by the Pittsburgh community.”

The three-day radiothon featured live performances from Scott Blasey of The Clarks, local musicians Josh and Gab, and Clinton Clegg and Mike DeLuca from the Commonheart. Also, special guests included Thomas Tull, Chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures, and the 2016 Little League World Series Champions from Maine-Endwell, NY. Pittsburgh Steelers players, Arthur Moats, B.J. Finney, Travis Feeney, supported the Radiothon by answering phones and visiting patients and families.

“WDVE’s Rocks for Children’s Radiothon continues to improve the life of the families in the Pittsburgh community,” said Tim McAleer, Market President for iHeartMedia Pittsburgh. “We truly appreciate the generosity of the 102.5 WDVE Rocks listeners and their willingness to support their hometown children’s hospital.”

The presenting sponsors of this year’s event were Great Clips, Northwood Realty Services, and Rohrich Toyota.
