Hospital Entrances

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh has several entrances. To ensure safety, some entrances have restricted access during certain hours. Below is a chart of hospital entrances and the days and hours they are accessible:

  • Main Entrance (at Penn Avenue) 6 a.m.–10:30 p.m., seven days a week
  • Mid-Campus (at Transformation Corridor) 24/7 (Public Safety stationed there from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.)
  • Grape Elevators (from Penn Garage) 24/7
  • Emergency and After-Hours 24/7

The Welcome/Information Center

The Welcome/Information Center is on Floor 1 of the main hospital.

  • Directions, visitor badges and other hospital information may be obtained at the Welcome/Information Center.
  • Parking fees may be paid at the pay stations in the Main Hospital, Floor 1a by the Mid-Campus Garage, or in the Penn Garage elevator lobbies on the basement and sub-basement levels.

Getting from Here to There

It's easy for children, families and visitors to find their way through UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. All wayfinding and directional signage throughout the hospital is standardized using an easy-to-understand, kid- and family-friendly system.

Visitor Elevator Guide

The two primary banks of guest elevators are designated as Grape and Orange. Guests must receive an ID badge in the Welcome/Information Center in order to access Orange inpatient elevators, which serve Floors B–9. Grape elevators from the underground Penn Garage are primarily for outpatients and serve Floors P2–4.
