At UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, research is central to our mission.

We're devoted to finding new treatments and cures for all types of childhood diseases, including:

Our State-of-the-Art Childhood Research Facilities and Labs

With support from the National Institutes of Health and others, our staff has access to cutting edge research labs with the most advanced tools.

• The John G. Rangos Sr. Research Center serves as the hub of basic childhood research at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The 300,000-square-foot center is home to 70 principal investigators who focus on research topics such as genomics, immunology, and neuro-science.
• The Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Center allows doctors to research childhood diseases in a controlled setting.
• The Pediatric Simulation Center of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC provides staff with life-like tools to help them recognize and manage a wide a range of health problems in children.
• Pediatric Transplant Research at the Hillman Center focuses on improving the medical management and survival rates of all pediatric transplant patients.
