New Children’s South Opens Next Week in South Fayette with Expanded and New Outpatient Services

September 25, 2014

PITTSBURGH, PA - September 25, 2014 - The new Children's South opens on Monday, Sept. 29, in South Fayette Township, with new and expanded outpatient services that are conveniently located and easily accessible for families in the tri-state region.

Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is moving its outpatient facility in the South Hills from its current location in Bethel Park to the new South Fayette location in order to centralize care and expand services.

"Now, Children's subspecialty care, primary care and Express Care will be under one roof and we have increased space so these programs can grow, allowing us to accommodate the growing demand for our programs in the regions south of Pittsburgh," said Christopher Gessner, president, Children's Hospital. "The new Children's South is a beautiful, family friendly environment that is easily accessible to families from southwestern Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, and eastern Ohio."

The ambulatory care center, located on Millers Run Road in Bridgeville, will provide new and expanded services including:

  • Increased exam room space for expanded pediatric subspecialty care, including adolescent and young adult medicine, allergy, cardiology, chronic pain, cleft-craniofacial services, dentistry, dermatology, endocrinology, ENT, gastroenterology, neurology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, pulmonary and sleep medicine, and urology.
  • State-of-the-art, pediatric-based radiology, including fluoroscopy, MRI, ultrasound and x-ray.
  • Children's Express Care South Fayette, an after-hours and weekend center providing care for minor pediatric illnesses and injuries. Children's Express Care Bethel Park will close and move to the new Children's South location.
  • 15,000-square-foot open gym and exam room space for rehabilitation services including audiology, the Center for Independence, physical and occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology.
  • Expansion of pediatric behavioral health services, including cognitive therapy and developmental testing.
  • New site for CCP–South Fayette, a primary care practice that is part of Children's Community Pediatrics. The site also will now offer patients comprehensive dental treatment through CCP – Dental. This new service provides newborns to adolescents with typical dentistry treatments.

In addition to Children's South, Children's operates three other ambulatory care centers: Children's North and Children's Pine Center in Wexford and Children's East in Monroeville.

"The added space we have at our new South Fayette location increases our ability to bring Children's Hospital services to southern Allegheny County and the surrounding region," said Kathy Guatteri, vice president, Outpatient Services at Children's. "Children's is pleased to be a new neighbor in South Fayette Township, and the community has welcomed us with open arms."
