Complex Care Center

If your child has complex health needs, we can help. The Complex Care Center at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is a specialty practice that can help arrange your child's care.

We assist families with navigating the health care system both within and outside of UPMC Children's.

Our mission is to be a central point of contact for those who use many services at Children's.

How We Can Help With Your Child's Complex Health Needs

Our goal is to help improve the quality of life for you, your child, and your whole family.

The team at the Complex Care Center:

  • Helps arrange care among the specialists your child sees.
  • Manages home nursing orders.
  • Refers children to local resources that meet their needs.
  • Helps with school or daycare orders.

We also:

  • Follow your child closely with in-person visits at least every six months.
  • Manage your child's tube feedings and cleaning if another provider doesn't.
  • Offer sick-visit appointments.

Complex Care Center Referral Requirements

We accept referrals from parents, pediatricians, specialists, and therapists.

We see children who:

  • Are currently under the care of at least three subspecialties.
  • Depend on technology.
  • Have three or more chronic health problems.
