Research Interests

With a focus on the development of novel methods to study the “omics” of complex diseases, Wei Chen, PhD, is interested in the development of statistical and computational methods for high-throughput genetic/genomic data and the genetic study of complex diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, childhood asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. His work is supported by the National Eye Institute, National Human Genome Research Institute, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, and the University of Pittsburgh, where he is an associate professor of pediatrics, biostatistics, and human genetics. At Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, he directs the Statistical Genetics Core in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology.
