Pediatric Traumatic Injury Study

Trauma Recidivism in the Pediatric Population

Protocol Description

The purpose of this research study is to determine if injuries from trauma are more likely to recur in some children and what things may be causing those children to have a greater risk of reinjury. This research will help health care professionals identify children who may be at a higher risk for repeat trauma so that injury prevention teaching can be done.

Eligibility Criteria

Boys and girls, ages 10 to 17, who are admitted to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC with traumatic injuries will be eligible to participate.
Boys: Age 10 to 17
Girls: Age 10 to 17

While they are in the hospital, participants and their parents will be asked to complete one-time, confidential questionnaires.
