Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology

The Division of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology provides medical and surgical management of gynecologic problems in newborns to patients up to 26 years old.

Some of the routine and specialized pediatric and adolescent gynecologic issues we treat include:

• Menstrual disorders.
• Menstrual management and gynecologic concerns in girls with special needs.
• Vulvovaginal issues in pre-pubertal and pubertal girls.
• Ovarian cysts and adnexal masses.
• Endometriosis.
• Congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract.
• Polycystic ovarian syndrome.
• Primary ovarian insufficiency.
• Contraceptive and menstrual management in girls with complex health issues.
• Fertility preservation in girls undergoing gonadotoxic chemotherapy or radiation.

Referral Requirements for Gynecology Services at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh

Referrals are encouraged from primary care physicians or other Children’s Hospital specialty services, however self-referrals are accepted. In any situation in which patients are enrolled in managed care insurance plan, please be aware they may require authorization from the insurance provider and a primary care physician.
