Pediatric Neuropsychology Service Training

The Pediatric Neuropsychology Service at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh offers an array  of training options for students at all different levels. Our clinic's board-certified neuropsychologist leads an entire staff of all board-eligible neuropsychologists.

Our service sees children with a wide range of complex conditions that affect cognition, including:

  • Brain injuries
  • Brain tumors
  • Cancers
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Concussion
  • Genetic disorders
  • Heart problems and cardiac conditions
  • Hydrocephalus
  • Intractable epilepsy and other seizure disorders
  • Spina bifida
  • Stroke
  • Transplant

Neuropsychology Training Programs

We offer training opportunities that include:

  • Shadowing experiences for undergraduate students or those considering a career in neuropsychology.
  • Practicum rotations for grad students.
  • Post-doctoral fellowship in Lifespan Neuropsychology.

Shadowing

Shadowing experiences can be up to 14 days but are most often two to three days for two consecutive weeks.

Childhood Neuropsychology Rotations

Rotations are typically a minimum of three months and require a commitment of at least one-day each week.

A neuropsychologist supervises rotations that include:

  • Test battery design and administration
  • Scoring
  • Case theory
  • Integrated report writing
  • Feedback to patients and families

We offer training consistent with a student’s level of training, background, and interests.
