Neurocritical Care

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unti (PICU) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh have specialized neurocritical care units to diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate children from birth through young adulthood with any neurologic condition.

  • NICU— includes a multidisciplinary team dedicated to newborns,  one of only three of its kind in the  county.
  • PICU — cares for children following severe trauma and major surgery, and those suffering from a broad range of critical medical disorders.
