Sibling Day Workshops (SIBS)

SIBS Day Workshops for siblings ages 6-16 to help them better understand cancerWhen a child or adolescent has cancer, the diagnosis impacts the entire family. Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Child Life Department offers SIBS Day, a workshop for siblings ages 6–16 to help them better understand cancer.

The four-hour, parent-free workshop for brothers and sisters of Children’s oncology patients includes tours of:

  • The operating room
  • The helipad
  • An inpatient unit
  • An outpatient clinic

Participants will learn about cancer, its treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation, and their side effects.
