After your child's care team contacts you about a possible matching kidney, you'll need to safely get to the hospital right away. Meanwhile, the transplant team will check the kidney to make sure it's healthy and a good match for your child.
Sometimes, the surgeon finds that the kidney isn't a good match. This news can be discouraging, but it's vital that your child receive a kidney that is safe and best for them.
If the kidney is a match, we'll stabilize your child and get them ready for the pediatric kidney transplant.
We know this is a scary time for you and your child. We want to help ease your fears and answer any questions about your child's kidney transplant.
