Frequently Asked Questions About Neurodiagnostics Careers

Do you need pediatric experience to work here?

No. Whether you are interested in working as a Neurodiagnostic Technician, Monitoring Technician, or any other clinician or nurse within the department, pediatric experience is not required. You are given extensive training and tools to make the transition to pediatrics as smooth as possible. 

Do I have to deal with critically sick children all the time?

No. It is a common misconception that by working at Children's Hospital, you are constantly surrounded by critically ill children. This is not the case. Certainly, assisting sick kids will be a very important part of your job, but you will also assist children who are not in critical danger and simply need normal diagnostic testing and treatment.

What makes the Nuerodiagnostics (EEG and EMU) Department unique at Children's Hospital?

As an employee of the Epilepsy Center of EEG lab, you will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and procedures. You will be surrounded by a team of individuals dedicated to the care of the children and the support of their families. You will also be exposed to learning and educational opportunities while working with many of the departments throughout the hospital.

What is the work schedule like?

We maintain a child friendly environment with a focus on family-centered care. You can expect to work within the Epilepsy Center, EEG lab, Operating room, and Emergency Department. All employees within all areas of the hospital function as a team to support one another to meet the needs of children and their families.
