UPMC Children’s Express Care now offers COVID-19 testing for all pediatric patients. If you suspect your child has contracted COVID-19, we encourage you to use the UPMC Children’s app or our website to reserve your spot in line before you arrive at one of our 9 locations. An exam is required to receive a rapid antigen or PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test.
Rapid, point-of-care diagnostic test use a mucus sample from the nose and results are available within 15-minutes. The best time to test children for COVID-19 with a rapid antigen test, is shortly after they develop symptoms, within 0-5 days of the symptoms showing up.
