Children's Hospital was well represented at the International Society of Heart & Lung Transplantation's (ISHLT) Annual Meeting in San Diego in April. Brian Feingold, MD, MS, FAHA, has begun a two-year term as chair of the Pediatric Thoracic Transplantation and Heart Failure Council of the ISHLT. He also presented an invited talk on alloantibodies (sensitization) and transplant outcomes. Jen Picarsic, MD, an attending in Pediatric Pathology, had an oral presentation of research on histology of late failing heat allografts. Massimo Mangiola, PhD, assistant director of the Histocompatibility Lab, presented a poster on unique alloantibody diagnosis and care in pediatric heart transplant patients.

Sub Marathon Man 90.5 WESA (6/20/2015) We first met our guest Darren Miller as attempted to become the first American man to complete the Ocean’s Seven Challenge. Having accomplished that mission Darren has set his sights on a new challenge. This Saturday he will attempt the Sub 3 Marathon at Presque Isle State Park on Lake Erie. Like his other athletic endeavors this challenge is to raise money and awareness for charity. Also taking part in the conversation is Miller’s fiance, marathon swimmer, Alli DeFrancesco.
