The Pediatric Hemophilia Program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh provides high quality, comprehensive care for children with hemophilia and thrombophilia. Our multidisciplinary staff of physicians, registered nurses, and others are experts in the treatment and management of bleeding and clotting disorders.
Because hemophilia requires lifelong management, we work closely with physical therapists, social workers, and family members to help children learn to manage their disease as they make the transition to adulthood.
We are the only medical center in western Pennsylvania that can diagnose acquired and congenital bleeding and clotting disorders in children. This is because of our close partnership with the Institute for Transfusion Medicine and the UPMC Molecular & Genomic Pathology Laboratory. The Pediatric Hemophilia Program is funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Institutes of Health.
Our hematologists work in collaboration with the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania to provide innovative treatments and comprehensive care for both children and adults with hemophilia.
In addition to the Hemophilia Center and the Sickle Cell Program, UPMC Children's Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology provides exceptional patient care through our Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation Program and our Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program.
