Focus with Friends

The Focus with Friends program provides your child with the necessary skills to help with attention and focus while interacting with their peers allowing them to foster important age-appropriate social skills. Behavioral health specialists as well as certified speech and language pathologists will work with participants in the program.

Who Should Participate?

School age children, who need assistance in building skills with focus and attention in order to more effectively interact with others. The group will benefit children who struggle with attention and focus, hyperactivity, impulsivity and/or anxiety.

What Will They Learn?

Speech

  • Working on improving conversation skills, problem-solving skills, and following rules and directions.

Behavioral Health

  • Working on improving attention and concentration skills, social skills, emotion regulation skills, and coping skills.

Where is Focus with Friends Held?

The program will be held at the following Center for Independence locations:

When Are the Sessions?

  • Series of 10 sessions
  • 1 session a week and 1 hour per session (Wednesdays 4:00 – 5:00 PM)
  • Usually, three cycles of the program per year (winter/spring, summer, fall)
