Music to My Ears is a program for children who have varying degrees of hearing loss. Through the use of music and movement, children will be engaged while developing their listening and speech/spoken language skills. Activities will target the stages of auditory development (detection, discrimination, identification, and comprehension). The program is offered by the Center for Independence at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Professionals from Speech-Language Pathology will work with children who participate in this program.
This group is designed for early listeners who are 8 months to 2 years old. Activities for this group will target aspects of speech including duration, volume, and pitch. Through the use of live voice, recorded songs, puppets, and instruments, these children will engage in sound awareness and sound production activities by their own hands. Parents must be present and in the room for all sessions.
This group is designed for beginning to intermediate listeners, ages 2-1/2 to 5 years old.
