Making Toy Donations to the Child Life Department

New Contactless Donation Process

Thank you for thinking of the patients and families at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. — your desire to donate is greatly appreciated. The Child Life Department uses play and expressive arts to help meet the developmental, psychosocial, emotional, and educational needs of our patients. These experiences and opportunities can help children to cope and adjust to illness and hospitalization.

We are no longer accepting in person donations. Donation questions and arrangements can be directed to the Child Life Department by contacting Kathi Exler at 412-692-5022 Press #1 or kathi.exler@chp.edu.

Donating Guidelines

In a hospital setting, safety and infection prevention are of utmost importance.  With patient safety being our top priority, we are taking an abundance of caution and have revamped our donation guidelines with infection prevention in mind. These standards allow us to ensure the highest level of quality and safety for our patients. UPMC Children’s has implemented a contactless donation process. This allows donors to purchase items of greatest need from our gift registry and they are shipped directly to us from the store.

Wish Lists

Please view our wish list registry, to see the most requested needed items to help support our patients.

If you wish to donate something that is not on our registry you must call or email the donation coordinator to confirm that we can accept your donation.  Please contact Kathi Exler at 412-692-5022 Press #1 or through email at kathi.exler@chp.edu.

Holiday Donations

The holidays are one of the busiest times in the hospital and also the most popular time for donating. If you wish to make a donation during the holiday season, please contact Kathi Exler at 412-692-5022 Press #1 or through email at kathi.exler@chp.edu.
