Silva Arslanian, MD, and members of her team have been invited lecturers at various international congresses. Additionally, Dr. Arslanian has chaired several of these events and is the recipient of numerous awards for her seminal work in pediatric type 2 diabetes. She has also been invited to sit on several important advisory boards, including:

Recent Grants Awarded

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases awarded a grant for Brain Health Across the Metabolic Continuum in Youth at Risk for T2D, a study on which CPROM Scientific Director Silva Arslanian, MD, is a Principal Investigator. About the grant. 

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases awarded a grant for Behavioral Economics for Activity Motivation in Adolescents and Young Adults with Pediatric Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes, led by CPROM Physcian Scientist Mary Ellen Vajravelu, MD, MSHP. About the grant. 

The American Heart Association awarded a 2021 Career Development grant to Thiago Bruder do Nascimento, PhD, to provide three years of funding for the research project Progranulin on Kawasaki Diseases-induced Vascular Damage.

The Research Advisory Committee of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh awarded Thiago Bruder do Nascimento, PhD, a UPMC Health System Startup grant for his investigation, Mitochondria Recycle in Arteries of a Mouse Model of Kawasaki Disease.
