Program Overview
Nationally 93% of pediatric patients present to general emergency departments before being sent to pediatric-specific facilities. While a large number of the pediatric population presents, only about 10-15% of the total patient volume is pediatric. This leaves gaps and decreased exposure to pediatric illness and injury. All events related to pediatric emergency care require attention and education to continue to expose health care practitioners to current and best practices.
Members of the interprofessional health care team will have a deeper understanding of how to care for pediatric patients in their emergency departments. They will be able to take the knowledge from this conference back to their respective departments and advocate for change and improvement.
