As part of our effort to improve patient safety, and as part of the UPMC Health System, we are all committed to creating a culture that encourages our team members to voice their concern without hesitation.

The phrase “I Need Clarity” is to be used when further explanation or review of patient care is needed. This phrase alerts all staff to take a moment and discuss the care process before continuing with treatment. By pausing, we allow all staff members to voice their concerns and come to an understanding about the course of action.
