High Five Initiative
At UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh we strive for excellence in care. One of the simplest and most efficient ways to prevent harm is through strict handwashing guidelines.
Hands are the main pathway for germ transmission in the hospital setting. There is a higher incidence of health care acquired diseases when hand washing policies are not followed. Hand hygiene is one of the most important ways to prevent the spread of germs.
During your stay at our hospital, you will notice the “High Five” initiative that focuses on proper hand hygiene. Alcohol hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the hospital. We encourage not only our team members to participate, but our families as well. Working together, we can all promote safety in the hospital, one hand at a time.
