Rehabilitation Fellowship

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Fellowship program is a two-year ACGME (#3464131017) accredited clinical and research fellowship offered by the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. This program is offered to two qualified candidates annually.

The applicant should be trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation and be Board Certified/Board Eligible.

UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, serves as the site for training in acute care pediatrics, outpatient pediatrics, subspecialty pediatrics, and acute care inpatient rehabilitation consults. Children’s is consistently ranked in the top 10 in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll.

Opportunities for exposure to various domains of the practice of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine include:

  • Acute care inpatient PM&R consults
  • Acute inpatient rehabilitation
  • Outpatient continuity clinic
  • Outpatient multidisciplinary clinics in cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spasticity, neuromuscular disease
  • Assignments and electives in various related pediatric subspecialties Community based off-site clinics

The fellow will participate in inpatient and outpatient staffing conferences. Lectures designed for the fellow will be presented twice a month and a journal club will meet once a month. Participation in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center PM&R residency program research meetings, didactics and journal clubs is recommended. At Children’s, the fellow will have the opportunity to participate in education activities for the pediatric residents, neurodevelopment fellows, neurology fellows, rheumatology fellows, and neurosurgery residents.
