Hye Jin Hwang, PhD, studied mitochondrial biology as a graduate student in in the lab of John LaPres, PhD, at Michigan State University. Her thesis work focused on two transcription factors activated by environmental stimuli, the aryl hydrocarbon receptor and the hypoxia-inducible factor 1. She is entering the world of worm mitochondrial metabolism for her post-doctoral training in the Ghazi Lab, focusing on the relationship between lipid-metabolic regulation, aging, and reproduction.

Hye Jin loves to watch her son’s soccer games and enjoys listening to K-pops.
