Pancreatitis Pain Management with Web-MAP

A Pilot Study of Web-MAP for Children With Chronic Pancreatitis

Protocol Description

The purpose of this multi-center research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a web-based pain management program for children with acute recurrent or chronic pancreatitis. Researchers will also learn how well pediatric patients and their parents accept the internet-based educational program called Web-MAP. The program is accessed via computer, smartphone, or tablet. Researchers will analyze the program’s effects on pain and function and will measure psychological outcomes.

Study Level: Pilot

Eligibility Criteria

Subject to certain exclusion criteria, this study is accepting patients who have acute recurrent or chronic pancreatitis.
Boys and Girls: Ages 10 through 17

Upon enrollment, participants and their parents/guardians will complete a baseline questionnaire. They will then complete an 8-week online Web-MAP program, which involves spending approximately 30 minutes each week reading and doing other activities for pain management. After the 8-week program is over, participants and their parents/guardians will complete additional questionnaires.
